INSULATION
Wood also has the great advantage of being an excellent insulation.
Wood is a material made up of hollow fibres lined up in axial form to the longitude of the trunk. These hollow spaces contain trapped air which gives them qualities of sound thermic insulation.
The thermic conduction of wood is 1300 times less than steels, 10 times less than concrete and 40 times less than ceramic brick.
For this reason wood constructed homes are hot in winter, and cool in summer.
Wood also insulates electricity 15 times more than cement, 400 times more than steel and 1770 times more than aluminium.

SUSTAINABILITY
From the point of view of pollution produced during construction, for each cubic metre of concrete 700 kmh. of energy are needed; for the same volume, but with wood, only 350 kwh are necessary (480kwh including the cost of transport) , much less than with steel which needs 46.000 kwh, infinitely less than aluminium which needs 141.500 kwh to obtain each cubic metre. Wood is also the only material used in renewable, reusable, recyclable and biodegradable.
